This book introduces various ways to use traditional Japanese colors to match different projects, such as web design, illustration, packaging, and fashion. You can also learn the meanings behind traditional Japanese motifs.
和柄は「花・植物」「動物」「幾何学」「物」とジャンル分けされて掲載。一つの和柄に対して4ページで構成されています。1ページ目にJIS慣用色の和の色に沿って作られた、古典的な配色の基本的なイメージ画像と柄自体の意味や由来。2ページ目に1ページ目で使用したJIS慣用色のメインカラーをベースとした和風の配色が4例。
For each motif, there is a four-page layout. On the first page, a typical image of the motif is placed in the center, with a color scheme from the image on the left side. The color names are traditional, originating from ancient times. The meaning of the motif is written beneath the page.On the second page, there are four variations using the theme color displayed at the top of the color scheme bar from the first page.These are color schemes that evoke a sense of Japanese style.
3ページ目は和柄を実用的に使用するために、古典的なイメージには捉われず現代的な配色にした6例と、それにコーディネートすると可愛い無地のカラーと小さな模様の組み合わせ。4ページ目にはその和柄をイラストや商品に使用した時のイメージ画像。
On the third page, there are six variations that offer a more modern style using the same Japanese motifs. A small pattern and solid color, which I recommend to complement each color scheme, are placed below the color values.On the fourth page, this is my favorite! It features an image page that showcases practical applications based on the previous pages. I created captivating mock-up photos and illustrations for them.
和柄には縁起の良い意味が有る、と何となく皆様ご存知だと思います。そのおめでたい意味が模様によって少しずつ違っていることを知ると、昔の人がどんな気持ちで着物を誂えたり生活道具に模様を施していたか分かり、とても面白いです。デザイナーさんやイラストレーターさんにとっては、ちょっとした参考書として活用していただければ嬉しいです。配色と共に和柄を楽しんでください。
